Hello dear friend, Happy Fall if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere.
I still have that novel of a post in draft mode about my reflections about taking my art and business off of Instagram in January.
*yawn*
I’m starting to think I don’t need to share it, because I keep coming up with more fun things to write that I am more excited to share.
Here is a manifesto I wrote that feels empowering to me. I call it anti-capitalist because it rejects commodification, competition, and sacrifice of creative life force to algorithms and instead prizes authenticity, rest, and the notion of creativity as a spiritual practice.
As someone with a product-based business in e-commerce I am fully aware that I am participating in capitalism by monetizing my creations. But there isn’t only one way to do that. I nourish resistance to capitalism through the way I operate both my business and my art practice. I wanted a manifesto that helps keep rooted the creative side of everything I do, knowing that even if I do sometimes offer my creations in an unavoidably capitalist setting, there is always a deeper undertone of care and interconnectedness with spirit that exists separately from material gain.
Anti-capitalist creative reclamation manifesto:
In true anti-capitalist fashion, you can download this as a free printable for a letter sized sheet of paper you can print yourself on your home printer. It is available below both in black and white and in colors. Print and hang one in your creative space, if you’d like:
The downloads are to print one copy for personal use only and not for mass production or sale.
Obviously ;-)
I hope the seasonal transition is treating you with softness.

Imagination is infinite and expression is free 😭😭😭 the tears are flowing! It’s a beautiful manifesto Kristen :)
Yes, absolutely this! I needed this manifesto after what was the hardest art fair ever… I just want to create and be free of the constraints that we have in our capitalist society. Thank you. I’m crying. Love you!!
